ABOUT RACHEL
My art reflects my perception of the world as seen through my process of healing from trauma and grief. I use minimalism to express how, at times, the only way I got through my experiences was by focusing on the tiny, small details. At its heart, my work is about finding value and beauty in small details, even when all seems lost and hopeless.
Nature is the inspiration for most of my art and a source of never-ending wonder and magic for me. I have learned to find hope in the persistence of nature and find beauty in the small and commonplace details of life. My work shows that these small and seemingly mundane facets of nature are marvels that change from moment to moment and carry worth and beauty no matter their state.
Originally from Texas, I moved to Oregon in 1998, and even more recently relocated to Washington.
